Admission in Master of Education (MEd) Class of 2012
AKU-IED offers a two-year MEd programme with specialisations in i) Teacher Education; and ii) Educational Leadership and Management, focusing on re-conceptualisation of roles of participants, improvement of their subject matter knowledge and pedagogy in specific curriculum areas (Science, Maths, Social Studies, English language) and enhancement of educational leadership and management skills. Students will be expected to engage in teaching/management practicum, action research and writing dissertation.
AKU-IED invites applications for MEd programme for academic year beginning October 2010. Since admissions are means-blind, selected candidates who are unable to pay tuition fees can apply for financial assistance.
Eligibility
Prospective candidates should be serving teachers, teacher educators or educational managers who have:
- Minimum of 55% marks in graduate or postgraduate degree from a recognized university/institution;
- Two years teaching or management experience.
Candidates who meet the above criteria will be expected to take an English language test, a logical reasoning test, and participate in an interview. A mandatory pre-session course in English language and academic writing skills will be offered to the selected candidates from
August-September
2010.
The possibility of a part-time MEd programme is not currently available but is under discussion.
